Where men play out their boyhood baseball dreams

February 25, 2015 - As the 25th Season of Seacoast Men's Baseball is drawing near we are very excited to announced some MAJOR changes coming to the league this season. Seacoast Men's Baseball has always prided itself on providing a competitive yet fun environment for men to hold onto their boyhood baseball dreams; this year, thanks to growing interest in the league, we are proud to announce we are expanding to give a greater audience access to this wonderful game. Starting this season we will offer 2 ADDITIONAL DIVISIONS:

                                                                                      18+ and 40+ Division

By adding these divisions we will now be able to attract a younger group of players with the 18+ league, transform those players into the already existing 25+ league, and finally move them to the 40+ league should they choose. This is an extremely exciting time to be part of Seacoast Men's Baseball.

If you have any interest in either MANAGING A TEAM in the 18+ or 40+ Divisions or just simply PLAYING please contact Paul Brooks at 603-969-7960 or snhmsbl@gmail.com. As more information about these Divisions becomes available it will be posted.

February 1, 2015 - For all current and potential players, the league fee has been set for the 2015 Season and the Managers have a deal for new and returning players. An EARLY BIRD SPECIAL is available for $185.00 per player if payment is made in full by April 1, 2015. After April 1, 2015 the price increases to $205.00 per player. To put the cost into perspective - The EARLY BIRD SPECIAL works out to approximately $12 per game - covering field fees, umpires, insurances, and baseballs - WELL BELOW THE NATIONAL AVERAGE.

Current players - Contact your Team Manager to take advantage of the EARLY BIRD SPECIAL
New Players w/o Team - Contact League President, Paul Brooks at snhmsbl@gmail.com or (603) 969-7960 for payment information

January 31, 2015 - Hope everyone had a great Holiday Season and now that the calendar has moved to 2015, and the snowfall is becoming even more unbearable than usual, it's time to start thinking about baseball. The Seacoast Men's Baseball League held it's first Managers Meeting of 2015 to get ready for the upcoming - 25th Season - of Seacoast Men's Baseball. Some of the topics discussed are outlined below.

  • Age Change - In an effort to expand our player base the league has decided to shift from a 28+ Age to 25+ Age. In doing so the Seacoast Men's Baseball League is looking to expand and create a 4-Team 18+ League and a 4-Team 40+ League . Should you have interest in playing in any of the leagues, especially the 18+ or 40+, please contact President Paul Brooks at snhmsbl@gmail.com or  603-969-7960.
  • The 2015 Player Fee has been set. For the 25+ League (15 Game Season) we will once again be offering an "Early Bird Special" of $185 if paid in full before April 1, 2015. After April 1st and throughout the remainder of the season the fee will be $205. Remember this fee covers costs associated with field usage, umpires, baseballs, and insurance. If the interest exists and both the 18+ and 40+ Leagues get underway the cost associated for both of these leagues - with a 12-game season - will be $160.
  • The Inaugural Class of the Seacoast Men's Baseball League Hall of Fame has been announced. Midway through last season President Paul Brooks reached out to the League Managers to put forth names for consideration into the newly created Hall of Fame. Managers put forth names based not simply on one's abilities on the field, but their role in helping to promote and grow the league. As you can imagine, with this being our 25th Season, there have been plenty of individuals over the years who have had the opportunity to influence this league in a positive manner; the following names represent the Inaugural Class of the Seacoast Men's Baseball Hall of Fame: Charlie Driscoll, Gordon Kraft, Paul Brooks, Steve Goff, and Chuck Lafreniere. Keep and eye out for special events associated with their induction as well as brief biographies to be posted on the Hall of Fame Page.

February 2, 2014 - Over the next several months, and throughout the season, the Seacoast MSBL will be constantly updating our website in an effort to provide players and fans the most comprehensive MSBL website anywhere on the Internet. Our ultimate goal is to be able to provide box score information along with individual player stats - which will hopefully carry forward from year-to-year to provide a "Career Stat Line" for our players. As these updates will be occurring periodically pages on the site may appear incomplete (For Example: The Astros currently have 2 players listed on their depth chart and links to "player profile pages"); as the season begins our goal is to create these pages for every team and every player. We continue to thank you for supporting the league we have come to know and love and ask you keep checking back as we progress in our newest venture.

January 27, 2014 - Tentative 2014 Schedule has been posted. Remember, this schedule is tentative and subject to change based on field availability or the addition of more expansion teams. Schedule will be finalized in April 2014, but the current one should give players and potential players a good approximation of what the year holds.

October 20, 2013 - Many of you who have played in our league for several years may recall one of our former SNHMSBL distinguished players, Hugh Baver. He played & pitched for the Indians, Red Sox, & most recently the Diamondbacks where he retired after the 2012 season.

Hugh is the father of 4 adult children, 3 daughters & 1 son. His youngest and only son Jake unexpectedly contracted a rare form of cancer last year at age 19 & beginning in 2012 has been under the expert care of Doctors at both the Jimmy Fund/Dana Farber Cancer Institute & Boston Children's Hospital.

After being in remission following successful chemotherapy treatments ending last Fall 2012, Jake's cancer unfortunately returned the end of this past summer. He is now going back down to the Jimmy Fund in Boston, just a short 5 minute drive from Fenway Park, receiving new & more advanced treatments to combat this disease.

Last weekend he suffered a setback and needed to be urgently hospitalized back down at Boston Children's Hospital. Jake was captain of his team at Oyster River HS and All-State soccer selection in both his Junior and Senior year. Prior to this setback, he was a soccer coach at Oyster River HS and was attending the University of New Hampshire to study education. As evidenced by the comments posted on his donation website by his many friends & supporters Jake is an extremely rare & well thought of young man.

After just learning of this recent unexpected recurrence, Jake spoke on behalf of the Jimmy Fund  on the Jimmy Fund telethon in late August. An audio transcript of that interview with Mutt and Lou Merloni from WEEI is below:

Here is the link to a story & additional background about Hugh's continuing relationship with the Red Sox & recent significant gift to them & to The Dominican Republic this past summer. http://www.msblnational.com/Featured-Stories/Blog/Collector-gives-away-prize-base.htm

Hugh explains "Despite all the wonderful baseball experiences I have had, I would trade them all in for my son to be completely healthy again". He has come and sat in the stands in the hot sun on many Sunday summer weekends to watch his Dad pitch & support me"  He is truly an incredible human being" I do realize this is a very tough economy and money is very tight for many of us but a donation of any amount really helps
